How to Keep Yourself Busy During COVID-19

By March 25, 2020News

Having to stay at home is hard for everyone, but it can be especially difficult for those in recovery. All of us at ShareHouse want to do our part to help everyone stay positive and keep those who are struggling on track. Here are 10 tips to help you stay occupied during this pandemic:

  1. Meditate

-If you’re feeling tempted, stressed, or overwhelmed, take some time to meditate. Light a candle, put on some relaxing music, and just breathe. Remember, this is only temporary. Having extra time on your hands may cause some to struggle but channel those thoughts into positive tasks.

  1. Try a new workout

-Another form of taking care of yourself is staying active. There are so many workout apps that can help you break a sweat right in your living room. You may not normally have time for workouts, but now is the perfect time to get started.

  1. Spa Weekend

-Treat yourself! Give yourself an at-home manicure/pedicure, try out that homemade face mask, or take a long bubble bath with some lit candles. You deserve to be pampered!

  1. Bake or try a new recipe

-Go on Pinterest, look at recipes, and try it out! If you’re going to be staying at home, you might as well make yourself something good to eat!

  1. Get a head start on spring cleaning

-You have all the time in the world right now! Take advantage and clean a room you never found time for. Your future self will thank you!

  1. Read a book or listen to podcasts

-Find a good book or do some research on podcasts! Podcasts are great to listen to while completing tasks around the house.

  1. Go outside for a walk

-Fresh air does wonders for your mind and body. Just because we’re supposed to social distance, doesn’t mean we can’t go for walks! Take advantage of this spring weather and get outside.

  1. Put together a puzzle.

-Puzzles are one of the most relaxing and satisfying activities. They challenge your brain and it’s so rewarding once you’re done! It’s an awesome activity to do with a loved one.

  1. Games and Apps on your phone

-There is a wide variety of activities that you can download on your phone. There apps for workouts, meditation, games, and more! Do some research and see what you can find.

  1. Write your friend a letter.

-Social distancing is hard. Make someone’s day a little brighter by writing them a letter! This is the perfect time to reach out to a friend or family member who you haven’t spoken to in a while.
