The events of the past ten days have highlighted a number of social and structural issues that have plagued our country and region for too long. Rather than shy away from these issues as a company, ShareHouse wants to strongly state that we support not only those calling for social justice, but also our local and regional law enforcement agencies as well.
The challenges we face as country, region, and community cannot be solved in a vacuum. Rather the pathways forward wind through different communities and institutions consisting of individuals of all race, gender, and socioeconomic status.
Through collective experience and intelligence lies opportunities to create meaningful change. An example of social justice through collective effort can be found in the jail diversion pathways that have been developed with local law enforcement agencies. In the spirit of criminal justice reform and wanting to help individuals with their addiction, ShareHouse has been able to work side-by-side with these agencies to address this issue. In doing so, relationships are bonded, individuals are helped, and societal issues are meaningfully addressed.
To believe we can solve these issues without empathy and partnership is to be incredibly naive. Working hand-in-hand and policy-by-policy, these flashpoints serve as opportunities to meaningfully bond together for a shared purpose.
Now is the time for us to work together towards meaningful reform, but please
“Back the Badge” and honor the life of George Floyd while we do so.
